Shield Bearer Counseling Centers (COVID-19) Response

Shield Bearer Counseling Centers is closely monitoring the ongoing Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. As the situation continues to change rapidly, our top priority remains the health, safety, and well-being of our community, clients, counselors, and staff.

Shield Bearer continues to offer counseling sessions through tele-therapy. Shield Bearer has taken appropriate measures to protect the health of our whole community. We recognize the seriousness and impact of the COVID-19 virus (the Coronavirus) which is why we will be taking the following precautions:

All counseling sessions will be transitioned to tele-therapy by Monday, March 16th. This will continue until the current threat of exposure and transmission subsides.

If you have questions or would like to discuss a tele-therapy appointment please call our main number: 281-894-7222 If the call goes to voicemail, please leave a message and your call will be returned as soon as possible.

If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, please seek immediate assistance from a crisis center. Community crisis resources are listed below:

The Harris Center:
24-hour Crisis Line: 713-970-7000, press 1
The Memorial Hermann Mental Health Crisis Center:

If you need emergency assistance or are experiencing urgent safety concerns, please dial 911 or go to your nearest hospital emergency room.

The following is in effect until further notice:

  • There are NO in-person sessions at Shield Bearer locations UNLESS pre-arranged with your counselor
  • ALL therapy sessions will be held via telehealth
  • All community events have been cancelled/postponed through the end of April to help prevent the spread of this virus

Telehealth is effective and easily accessible by computer, smartphone, or telephone. Most commercial insurances largely cover it. Shield Bearer is dedicated to working with clients whose insurance does not cover telehealth to ensure your continued access to quality mental health services. Our counselors and client relation specialists can easily assist in transitioning current clients or establishing new cients for telehealth therapy.
